Purisma Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve Description


Located on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains range in San Mateo County, California, Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve offers 24 miles of trails over 3,360 acres for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians to explore.  Dogs are not allowed in the preserve. 

21 miles of the trails are developed offering hikes and rides ranging from easy to strenuous. Here are some of the trails:

  •  Wittemore Gulch Trail is closed seasonally but currently is open to hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians
  •  Harkins Rdige Trail is currently closed to horses due to trail damage
  •  Redwood Trail offers ¼ mile of easy-access trail winding through groves of redwoods
  •  Purisima Creek Trail, about 4 miles long and open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, gors from Skyline Boulevard on one end and runs along Purisima Creek acrss to the opposite side of the park near Purisima Creek Road.
